Overview

The Macabre Media Video Archive catalogs original reels of vintage film and VHS footage, much of it never seen outside the families who shot it. Every clip comes from a physical reel or tape held here in Maine, and none of it is AI-generated.

The collection captures everyday life from the 1940s and beyond: Christmases at home, local theatre productions, camp weekends, trips to theme parks, landmarks, small-town sports, natural disasters and more.

The archive sits beside the 8mm, Super 8 and VHS digitizing service as the studio’s secondary focus, behind graphic design.

We pull matching reels and send low-resolution screeners.
You pick your clips and tell us how they’ll be used: platform, territory and length of run.
We quote a license fee and deliver the digitized masters once it’s paid.

Footage from the archive can be licensed for documentaries, film and television, streaming, commercials, museum and classroom use, and online video. Reels that haven’t been digitized yet can be scanned on request, so you aren’t limited to what’s already online. The archive is still being added to the website, so we may have footage you don’t see listed yet.
