We do the same for VHS, bringing that footage into the digital age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regular 8mm goes back to the 1930s. Super 8 showed up in 1965. VHS took over home video in the 1980s. Families recorded decades of birthdays, holidays and vacations on these formats. If yours haven&#8217;t been watched since the projector or the VCR gave out, you&#8217;re not alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">None of it lasts forever. A lot of home movie film was made on acetate, which can decay over time in a process called vinegar syndrome. If a can smells like vinegar when you open it, the film is already going. Colors fade, the film shrinks and turns brittle, and running a fragile reel through an old projector can tear it apart. Tape degrades too: studies put the loss at roughly 10 to 20 percent of quality over 10 to 25 years, even under decent storage conditions. Mold is another common threat, and it can damage both the tape and the VCR used to play it. Once a reel or tape is gone, it&#8217;s gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;ll convert your film and tapes into digital files, preserved safely and ready to watch anytime, on any modern device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What We&#8217;re Looking For<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;re also always on the lookout for specific kinds of film and tapes: old television broadcasts, local news recordings, parades, fairs, town celebrations, old storefronts and street scenes, and home movies of events or locations of interest.
